As We Fly By
By Indi Jane
what?
what can I do for you?
the responsibility already
resting on these youthful shoulders
we’re weighed down
finally sinking into a new reality
we are yearning for
the weight to be cut up and
handed out like a perfect
afternoon snack
shared innocently on
our naptime mats
for no worries exist within
these doors
of finger paint and building blocks
the grounding foundation
of our future
so, what?
what can I do for you while so heavily sinking?
sinking under this imaginary surface
of disapproval and loyalty?
so be it.
sink I must to float away
into the land of the free
that consists of all we need
love for the passion to grow
individuation
for our wings can
no longer be clipped
a rainbow of birds
will soar above your
curled powder ways
stuck in your heavy
chairs of hierarchy
how can i do anything for oz?
hiding behind your curtain of fear
fear of your thirst for power
that well will dry up mid sip
and all you have are
colors in the sky
as we fly by
