Translucence
By Judy Nemer Sklar
I awoke with a start.
Uneasy,
I swallowed the lump in my throat.
What was that dream?
I closed my eyes again,
Replaying it.
I was having dinner.
Four or five people at a table
Laughing,
A woman took me by the hand.
“I have never made love to a woman before”, I said.
Quietly.
Her breasts were creamy white,
Softer than anything I had ever felt before.
I went down to kiss her.
A translucent globe,
A perfect circle.
I could see her face through it.
Who was she?
I was
Unsure,
Repelled,
Fascinated,
Free.
I replay it now, again and again.
I don’t want to change a thing.
But, I don’t see her face anymore,
Only a translucent perfect circle.
